A man engages in reckless driving, carries a concealed firearm, brandishes the firearm and kidnaps another man. No, he is not some criminal, but a law-abiding gun owner. He make a citizen's arrest of a car thief. Thanks to a smart Santa Rosa police department they put the right man in jail.

Go to this link and fast forward to the 22:45 mark. How many times have we heard the paranoid gun nuts at the Brady Center tell us that firearms are a lousy way to defend yourself? Here is ANOTHER case of a poorly trained gun owner using a firearm to stop a crime. In this case a rapist burst into her bathroom while she was taking a shower....... she was able to retrieve her 22 Cal pistol and stop the thug cold.
In an act that can only be described as wholly insane, the Mexican government has retained a US law firm to pursuit civil legal actions against US gun manufactures. The Mexican government is claiming that since the majority of weapons used by the cartels are made by US companies, these same companies should be held liable for the violence in Mexico. One can only hope that this will establish the legal precedent necessary for US citizens to bring suit against the Mexican government for drug trafficking, and a host of other crimes caused by illegal immigration.

The police department always advises victims of armed robbery to comply with robbers' demands. "It's not worth fighting," Wylie said. "You risk being hurt or killed."
They also say this about bears and mountain lions. To bad she did not have a CCW.

Trail Regulations posted on the website are quite clear about what you are not allowed to do in the Preserve. They state…….. “For Your Safety and the Protection of the Environment...Visitors are responsible for knowing and obeying the District’s Land Use Regulations District Ordinances Weapons: Weapons of any kind are prohibited on preserves.” |
So just how do the benevolent Environmentalists at the Open Space District suggest you defend yourself?
Do not run from a lion. Instead, stand and face the animal. Make eye contact. If you have small children with you, pick them up if possible so they don't panic and run. Although it may be awkward, pick them up without bending over or turning away from the mountain lion.
Do not crouch down or bend over. If you're in mountain lion country, avoid squatting, crouching or bending over, even when picking up children.
Do all you can to appear larger. Raise your arms. Open your jacket if you are wearing one. Throw stones, branches, or whatever you can reach without crouching or turning your back. Wave your arms slowly and speak firmly in a loud voice. The idea is to convince the mountain lion that you are not prey and that you may be a danger to it.
Fight back if attacked. Hikers have fought back successfully with sticks, caps, jackets, garden tools, and their bare hands. Since a mountain lion usually tries to bite the head or neck, try to remain standing and face the attacking animal.
So, in summary…….. Stand up straight, engage in a staring contest, bad mouth the lion in an authoritative voice, wave your arms, and make yourself look big. And if all this fails, get in a wrestling match with the cat.
Try as I might, I can’t find any reference to a Mountain Lion martial arts program being sponsored by the Open Space District. Maybe it’s time someone locked up one of these idiots in a cage with a Mountain Loin and let them show us how it is done.
We would like to thank our members and all the second Amendment Groups and individuals in California and other states who responded to our email blast, passing on the information, and most importantly, calling the East Palo Alto Police Department number.
United in purpose, we CAN make a difference!
All,
While I was driving south on 101 I passed by the Ikea store which has a big electronic sign.
There was one ad that said:
"$1000 REWARD For info on people with guns”
The sign had a silhouette of an AK and the logo for a police dept. The sign advised people to report gun owners at the following number 650 321 1112
Ikea appears to own the sign but they use a company called Smart Sign Media to take care of the ads that run. (800-549-7300)
I called Smart Sign Media and was told by "Cheryl" that the ad was placed by the East Palo Alto Police. They were offering up to $1000.00 reward.
I called the 650-321-1112 number and was routed to a lady in police admin at 650-853-3160. I could not get the lady's name but she told me that the program was designed to get the public to report young men who were seen with guns in the street.
When I asked her what happened with these reports she said that these were only considered “incidents" until an officer checked them out.
When I asked her what she meant by checking them out, she said they would dispatch an officer to the address and see if the person had the “proper paperwork" for the weapon. If not, they would confiscate the gun and hold it pending further investigation. At this point a true report would be filed.
When I asked her to define "proper paperwork”, the process for getting a gun back, etc. she got very evasive and said I had to talk to a sergeant. I was then left on terminal hold. I called back twice with the same result.
I need the following:
A. Include a request to have as many people as possible call 650 853 3160 and ask to speak to the sergeant on duty. Get as much info as you can about the program and the details.
B. Get people to start calling Ikea in
C. Get this information out to as many other 2A groups as possible.
Many thanks,
President
As many of you know, Chief of Police Lodge attempted to sneak through a ban on gun shows in the City of Santa Clara. On Oct 10 the City Council met to address the issue . With about 25% of the audience populated by members of the GS2AC in opposition, the Council voted to refer this amendment to the city code back to the City Attorney for review .
Essentially, faced with a large body of GS2AC members in person, and recognizing the overwhelming number of phone calls from our members in opposition, the City Council appears to have responded to our pressure.
The City Attorney stated that he will likely need two or three months to complete his legal analysis. Keep your ears and eyes open .. When this comes up again we will need to get even more people to the meeting.
Good work GS2AC !!

As many of you may know, an organization called the Alliance for Civil Rights (www.tacr.us) is working on a ballot initiative that will amend the state constitution to add a specific right to own firearms. According to Bill Lockyear, Attorney General.... this right simply is not in the California State Constitution.... so he can chose to ignore any requests to respect the right. ( afterall..... the 2nd Amendment to the Federal Constitution only applies to the Federal governent )
TACR needs your signatures.................. and............ we need YOU to get other people to sign.......................... and even more importantly...........we need you to get others to gather signatures.
And we need you help NOW! Don't just talk about defending your Second Amendment rights.......... DO something about it!
Go to www.tacr.us............ download the petitions ....... and get signatures.! REMEMBER... the petitions MUST be printed on LEGAL SIZE paper....... both FRONT AND BACK...... with both pages facing up the same way ( just like the pages of a book ).
Bowing to pressure from NRA and law-abiding firearm owners, the City of San Francisco has agreed to postpone enforcement of the provision of Prop H that bans the sale or transfer of any firearm or ammunition until March 1, 2006. The handgun possession ban provision of Prop H does not goes into effect until April 1, 2006. Residents of San Francisco have until then to get their guns out of the city or turn them in to police without compensation.
In the interim, the NRA lawsuit challenging the ordinance will be filed in the San Francisco Superior Court. NRA had previously filed suit in the Court of Appeals on November 9, but the Court declined to exercise jurisdiction until the Superior Court had heard the matter. The hearing date on NRA's motion to invalidate the entire ordinance has been tentatively scheduled for February 15, 2006, in San Francisco Superior Court.

AB 352 expands the definition of "unsafe handguns" to include semi-automatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with an array of microscopic characters which identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol by imprinting the character on each cartridge case when the firearm is discharged.
This legislation could essentially ban all semi- automatic pistols commonly used by California gun owners.
Senate Bill 357 would establish a program requiring serialization of handgun ammunition to be enforced by the Department of Justice. The manufacture, transfer, and possession of non-serialized handgun ammunition after July 1, 2007, would be considered a crime. SB 357 would also require ammunition vendors and manufacturers to register with the Department of Justice.
In other words, if you gave someone an old round of ammunition to shoot or if the police found just one round of old ammunition in your ammo can you would be a criminal..
