Around 8 am today (January 26, 2015) an “active shooter” was reported in Building 26 of the Naval Medical Center San Diego. The NMCSD Facebook page posted a message warning people to stay away from the center. The people inside the building received instructions to “run, hide or fight”.
The message to “run, hide or fight” is pitiful as the NMCSD does not allow the carrying of firearms for self-protection, and everyone needed self-protection today.
“**!ATTENTION!** An Active Shooter has just been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight. All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134”
The question has to be asked: “Why are firearms banned inside the Naval Hospital?” The hospital, and many armed forces buildings and complexes are Gun-Free Zones and this makes them target-rich areas for anyone willing to break the rules and carry a firearm inside to do evil.
Joshua Cole, possibly a member of the armed forces, commented on the NMCSD post:
“For this is one of the greatest reasons to put the armed back into “Armed Forces” and allow us to legally carry on base.”
James Carmack also replied saying:
“Soldiers carrying guns on bases should be a no brainer. How can a single shooter be a threat to a military establishment?!”
I can speak for the majority of the GS2AC members by saying we agree with Joshua and James. We need to allow the carrying of arms by law-abiding citizens in government building and also throughout California. I would bet the criminals would give a second thought before starting a shooting rampage. Even if evil ones (and there will always be those evil ones who don’t respect life) their evilness will be cut short by law-abiding heroes.
There was a report that a suspect is in custody.
Another report says this was a false report.
Comment: Our government has to do away with gun-free zones before another tragedy like Fort Hood happens.
