On December 21, 2012, Wayne LaPierre delivered the NRA’s response to the tragic and senseless murders of 20 innocent school children and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Wayne proposed placing police officers in every school to prevent or minimize the carnage created by an evil person.
While there is much discussion among the Second Amendment groups whether government-controlled police should be in the schools verses expert privately-trained armed guards, Mr. LaPierre did come up with a great quote: “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”
All of us at the Golden State Second Amendment Council mourn with the parents, children and friends of those who lost loved ones at the hands of a crazy person.
We would also like to see a solution that will work to keep schools safe and not just another ineffective “assault weapons” ban which has never been even a little bit successful in the past. We do agree that a solution of a good guy with a gun will help.
The purpose of A Good Guy with a Gun is to present to the general public instances where a good guy with a gun stops bad guys.
We invite you to submit documented or personal stories where the presence of a firearm has stopped the bad guys. Email your information to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
