One of my many automatic Google Alerts brought this to my attention.
The Brady Campaign To Prevent Violence, affectionally known as the Brady Bunch has just about given up twisting half truths to make law-abiding firearm owners seem like unreasonable criminals. They have turned their attention to outright lies.
This is on the front web page of the Pennsylvanians Against Trafficking Handguns Coalition. Look at what is on their web site:
The PATH Coalition is dedicated to stopping handgun trafficking in this state. Under current law, a person can go into a gun shop and buy 10, 20, even 30 handguns without incident. The next day, they turn around and sell them on the street to anyone willing to pay cash- no questions asked! These are the guns that are being used to commit crimes across the state. We can do something to put an end to this deadly practice.
This is a total falsehood, as the BAFTE, formerly known as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) will investigate such a purchase right away. If the person or persons who bought these weapons improperly sold them (for instance: to a drug gang) they could be prosecuted under Federal law and they would not get any parole on Federal charges. In other words, they would be locked away for a long, long time.
You can also see that the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence is the main supporter providing most of the funds to support this organization. It does not take many dots to connect these groups.
